I flinched at the first cut

I worked in veterinary ER and all i can say is DON'T DO IT. The sweetest, most careful pet owners would come in crying and mortified that they accidentally cut their pets trying to do this.

"AHHH!!! youJusU cut dickeder the dog's goddamn ear off?" HAHAHA

Lol my aunt is a dog groomer, and I was lucky to be able to help out at the salon sometimes. I tell ya, the worst part about grooming dogs is not the cutting, that skill comes with practice. It's being bit, pissed, and pooped on and breathing in so much fur it gets embedded in your lungs (yeah, this is 100% true, my aunt had an x-ray done on her chest and they saw it in her lungs o.o)

THAT haircut is GREAT!

as the former owner of a shih-zhu (old age, goodest girl) you basically go by feel and very slow careful snips so that if you make a mistake its only a small pinch and maybe a little bit of blood. accidents happen and when they yelp it makes you feel SO bad you feel like you dont deserve to live anymore, even while the dog themself is trying to make YOU feel better by giving you hugs and licks. we dont deserve dogs, even when we accidentally hurt them they care more about our reaction to them being hurt than their own hurt.

I worked at five different pet stores with my mother over 20 years as a groomer and it is very difficult in the beginning but when you figure out what you need to do and what kind of dog dealing then you figure out exactly how to do it
