Yeah you have to use a special cat shaver I know that because I have 6 cats and one of them is 18 years old and he’s older than me

quick tip that works with my kitty, first, i reccomend to wait until gingi licks most of it, i mean. she has to lick it until its smaller, then when cutting it wont leave these bald spots, it works with my mainecoon, he has a lot of tangles:D but if the tangle is too big, it can hurt while she licks, so i also reccomend rubbing a little cornstarch into the mat, it can help lubricate the tangle, making it easier to gently tease apart with fingers or a metal comb, and if scissors, are needed, you should slide a metal comb between the skin and the mat first. and you should only cut the hair that is on the outside of the comb to protect the skin, i not a proffesional groomer or Anything, and i only saying things that work with my cat, so i hope it helps!😁

My cat is very old too with an interesting meow and he also has the knotted hair but we call them dreadlocks I like to play around with them sometimes he is 20 I think in human age if I’m correct he has no teeth and arthritis and he often has hair balls I love him so much

Omg I have the same cat with the same name.😮 She's 2 years old and has 2 kittens. But sadly she's afraid of me and everyone so she just runs away and so does her kittens.😢 I hope you can help me
