This wasn't at a repair shop. This was done by the owner and then blamed someone else

Just for clarification: not every short reading is actually a short circuit — in some cases, it may simply be a low resistance or low impedance line by design.

Question why is part of the board lifting up on the left side of the batt connector?????
you should have used some solder mask to fix the lifting copper to the pcb, it would be way better and easier for you to solder the connector back. also you could run the wires around the original traces and fix them to the pcb with solder mask, you could even make the wires become pads. but you did a great job, working device is the goal anyway.
It wasn't shown in the video, are you sure that battery connector is properly grounded? The vias look to be torn from the pad. As connectivity was only checked between contacts on connector itself.
You didn't feel the need to put solder mask on the tiny, delicate little copper wires you installed?
make sure the battery isn't below charging voltage, you might have to get it to a minimum voltage for the charging circuit to activate
Yeah, I don't think battery connectors are ripping themselves off the board. Pretty sure you're right that when their device dies, they open it up and accidentally damage the connector in the process.
I had the same issue with my ROG Ally, repair shop replaced a few capacitors and it still couldn't charge. Redeemed it unfixable, sold it off as spare parts.
