Should you join a Coding Bootcamp in 2025?

Extremely important to understand current hiring culture, a degree will always stand above a boot camp or self taught in most hiring managers minds and it’s very competitive right now, it’s not the same environment as 5 years ago

You can learn just as much or more without a degree ya, but the market is brutal and having that piece of paper is a big advantage

But this might not be easy for someone raised in Africa, especially the western part.

One thing that I actually learned in this field is that, after you learned the fundamentals in programming then Don't ask questions, don't ask for help, research on your own. Problem solving at its finest

I think a degree is necessary for most professional jobs. I got a job with just an associates in CS but it was because I had a bachelors in something else. For all my peers with an associates most of them could never find a job. The ones that did are being paid beans still. People should think twice about doing anything less than a bachelors degree. While it’s possible to land a job, your chances go down significantly without a bachelors.

I appreciate your hard work, but I have to be honest - I'm feeling quite conflicted about AI these days. Just yesterday, Claude helped me create an entire web application, frontend and backend included, generating around 30,000 lines of code without me needing any coding knowledge. It makes me wonder about the future of programming as a profession - when AI can do so much so effortlessly, what will be left for human programmers to do?

This guy is yapping terrible advice as if we’re in the 20201 hiring market. Bro it is 2025, people without degrees are easily filtered out. Then the candidates with degrees get the interview and compete for the limited spots left. Saying you should do a bootcamp is the same as saying, “waste your money so you don’t get a chance at a job, but hey at least you know some lame HTML”.

From personal experience, all coding bootcamps are scam believe me. Don't waste your time and money. If you are an undergrad get a master degree in cybersecurity or applied CS because master degrees are considered two years experience. If you are a first time coder get a bachelor degree in CS or apprenticeship programs.
