local repair shop:- the problem was very complex and took days to find plus the parts are expensive so that will be $1599 than you.

The completely dead ones are usually the easiest, it's intermittent problems which are the biggest pain.

This is the sort of diagnostic process and bug finding I love. Anyone couldve written off the console, or even just swapped the whole drive, but no, deep diving and finding the ACTUAL problem is just so much more satisfying, saves needing a whole donor drive, which means less e-waste. Well done!
Damn I love stuff like this. I've done some very VERY hacky soldering and fixing back in my younger days. I still really love videos like this. Ty for sharing and helping keep old devices alive, mate!
Nice detective work, The thermal image is smart
I would love to start fixing electronics. I did HVAC work for 16 years and diagnosing the right problem to get it back up and running feels good. I used to do small little repairs with my Xbox consoles and clean them.
Imagine how easy repairs would be if it could tell you exactly what was wrong
An estimate or update on how much the refurbished item sold for would be really neat And maybe bamung the equipment used as you go too Really enjoyed watching you work and daignose things faster then I would haha

Always nice to see content like this. Used to be such a good side-job, myself I was there for the 360 / ps3 red ring and yellow light debacles. On top of that mobile phones of the time were also exceptionally repairable. These days its not too worth it. I just did the USB C port on a handheld computer thats SMT soldered and that for my eyes/hands these days is a bit much. Works great, but if I actually charge, itd be like £100 easy which nobody in their right mind would pay (and rightfully so)
