You've reached the end
290 is crazy. They cant even give you a nice plate.
290 for a steak with potatoes and spinach? GTFO
"Can I have a toothpick?" "Certainly sir, that's 50 bucks."
This place WAS great 25 years ago, it's horrible now, don't EVER waste your money there.
Peter Luger is the definition of "coasting off the family name"
Those potatoes look like the free potatoes the deli gives you when you order an egg sandwich and coffee combo
βI feel like I just got robbed.β At least you didnβt go to Salt Bae.
IIRC, they lost their Michelin star a while ago. There's many reviews saying it's turned into a tourist trap :(
I was expecting a 30-40$ price range, and I wouldβve said maybe itβs worth it. But 290 is absolutely highway robbery. Complete waste of money.
I about choked on air when he said $290 BRO WHAT!?!
I canβt stand steak restaurants who cut my steak.
As a lifelong New Yorker I was so excited to finally go to Peter Lugers. Took the family in early 2019. What a disaster. Everyone said the steak was completely tasteless and it cost me an arm and a leg. Never again.
The plates at Peter Luger have always looked like that, so they will never change. They could re-plate it pretty easily, and it would look better. Itβs not an unfair criticism. I havenβt been there in over 20 years now (I also donβt live in NY). I have two decades of chef experience in fine dining restaurants. My last job was at a steak house in Nashville. The steak house concept is by far the biggest rip-off in the business.
For $290 I'd rather go to Costco and pick up 7 four packs of ribeyes and make them myself. Probably end up tasting better too.
This looks like they're overdue for a visit from Gordon Ramsay
About time somebody was honest with the review for this place.
Potatoβs look like theyβre from a hotels complimentary breakfast
Peter Lugers is one of those places that rests on their laurels and become hit or miss. There are steak houses all over New York that surpass them them in quality and variety.
When I was a kid Lugers was a place of legend. My grandmother lived around the corner. I never actually got to eat there, it felt completely unattainable. It feels like the last ten years have undone over 100 of legendary steaks.
Anything over $70 for that is crime.
