This video was packed with so much honesty, humility, and helpful informatio. Thank you! I really enjoyed it. The impact of this video taught me one very important lesson; I'm not ready! Not ready to just jump right in thinking I'm just gonna wing it on my outdoor kitchen project and knock it out of the park when my main concern is just the budget! Great job!
Never seen your channel but this popped up on my FYP and I wanted to comment to ask you to make a followup on what you did right! This has been so informational and things I would have never thought about.
My kind of channel: honest, humble, informative -authentic. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
The good news is, you learn from your mistakes. The better news, its all fixable
I enjoy your videos and also live in Indiana. We built an outdoor kitchen about 3 years ago and love it. We did put in more countertop space around grills, but therre is NEVER enough! We, too had a rodent problem. We live on 5 acres with large gardens and surrounding prairie and woods. We gained control with 1) hiring a professional pest control person to put bait traps around the house and 2) used scent sachets purchased from a local home center (Menards) which stop the entry/nesting over the winter.
Sir, when your video ended I went to the dictionary and looked up “brutal honestly.” Your picture was right next to the definition. Kudos to you! I immediately subscribed.
This was very helpful. Rodents are a huge reason I haven’t upped my outdoor cooking environment. Those pesky contortionists find a way in through the smallest of spaces!😂
A modestly sized rolling island will give you counter space you can bring with you (bigger wheels roll better on brick patio). A drop ceiling would have been a haven for TONS of animals, I'm glad you didn't put in a drop ceiling! Maybe bird spikes would stop their nesting? You can still cut out access panels for the spots you want, do it next winterization. Nice setup, enjoy it!
I loved watching the video on your initial build. It is very helpful to see what went wrong! It would be great to see what went right and how the permanent appliances held up. Thank you for this video!
Such a great video, this sort of info is invaluable. I'd love to hear more of what you would do differently if you did it fresh, even just design, layout, etc. A lot of these things you never know until you do it but then it's really expensive/hard to redo it, so this stuff saves people a lot of headaches.
It's not too late to seal openings to prevent rodents. I would buy an outdoor stainless steel rolling table for the limited space by your equipment
Thanks for coming clean on you outdoor patio. It looks great from afar but it will suck to wreck it to fix problems
Those small details you pointed out are solid gold. Make or break your out door experience. Thank you
I’ve never ever seen a DIY project that ends up 100% perfect! For the ton of money you saved you should be very proud because I’ll take your outdoor kitchen over mine every day. I get and love the idea of the video because give us DIYers more ideas but Cmon, that kitchen it’s so sexy and inviting. Use my personal motto every time I make a mistake on a DIY project “nah, nobody will see that from a plane” and move on.
I’ve made the concrete countertop mistake, it saved money in the short run as you mention but I highly advise against concrete since it is a porous material even if the surfaces are sealed, it will breath deteriorate.
Thanks for sharing your mistakes….mistakes are only learning opportunities..and your wisdom to share is a benefit to all who watch
Thank you for this video. These are things I would have never thought about and didn't know I needed to.
Regardless of the imperfections, you did a fantastic job! Thank you for a detailed video.
You guys still did a amazing job, to tell us about your experience helps build a more robust outdoor kitchen
Appreciate your honesty. Very helpful.
