I thought this Menu Challenge would be Cake. Got humbled real quick haha. Taking on Every Menu item at Howlin' Rays for the 1st Time! Including All 6 of their normal spice levels + their secret menu "Howlin' +" Spice Level. Gonna compare this to some of the other Spicy Chicken I've Had (Houston's Hot Chicken, Dave's Hot Chicken), but Howlin' Rays definitely lived up to their name... Spicy foods get hotter because the crispy coatings cut into the soft tissues in your mouth and exposes buried nerves, intensifying the experience
Matt was suffering during that challenge but he took it like a champ 💪
In LA I sat at the counter and ordered Howlin, I was at the TOP of my spice tolerance at the time, I had eaten RAW Carolina Reaper and had reaper extract from Ed Currie himself before. I ate the sandwich, I was red and tears were coming down, but it wasn't that bad. The chefs saw that and must have thought to themselves "Oh Hell Naw!". They then asked me if I wanted to try Howlin+, which wasn't widely known about yet. I went "THERE'S A PLUS?? Sure!" They brought out a wing and it was the darkest red I have ever seen in my life. I ate it, and from the first bite I knew I had to eat it fast. I got all the meat off and man it was BAD. I started shaking, I lost feeling in my feet and fingers, I couldn't feel my face, they even brought me milk for free, but it took like 5 cups before any semblance of cooling off happened. It actually hell or so I thought, about 2 hours later, I was in the fetal position on my couch trying to decide if I hold it down or let it come up and give my stomach relief. Well, lets say my stomach decided for me, and I got to the bathroom in time and truly breathed fire for the first time in my life... I went like 3 months later, and while in line, the smell of the spices themselves was making me shake, the anxiety I felt was insane just from a chicken sandwich. It took about a year of going a couple times before the shaking stopped, I haven't ordered Howlin since, I stick to hot now.
That chicken is no joke the howlin tenders had me in a fetal position on the floor in my room at 3am fighting for my life, worst stomach pain of my life. I still get it every time I go tho 😂
As someone who's eaten the off-menu Howlin+ and Howlin++ spiciness levels, and as a fan of Matt Stonie's who's well aware of how sensitive he is to spicy food... I knew as soon as I saw the title that there was NO WAY he'd make it through without absolutely suffering lol. Respect!
Can we give a round of applause to this man for putting himself through torture of eating all this food constantly for our entertainment
7:50 The face of a man that conquered the spice, but questioning every decision he ever made
W Matt for sacrificing his taste buds for our amusement
