Flashforge closes ecosystem & puts AI ads into printing software 🤦

I've been into 3D printing for 6+ years. Designed and built my own printers from scratch just for fun. The recent enshitification of 3D printers by some companies has been absolutely miserable to witness, especially considering where the 3D printing community came from, overcoming decades-long downright predatory patent trolling

"Oh, Bambu sucks? I'll just buy this other 3D printer inste... And it's gone."

Its like they watched all the backlash against bambulabs and jumped into the fight to defend the school bully.

I think if I bought a product , and they change that product by removing a feature or adding shit that I can't disable than I should be within my rights to return that shit for a full refund, no receipt and no return window as it's not as described anymore

An here I was thinking "Man, thank god I went with Flashforge instead of Bambu for my printer!"

I read the title and instantly had a vision of a terrible and rapidly-approaching future where printers ink actual banner ads onto every paper they print out.

If companies are allowed to put ads into something after you already bought and paid for it, they should be forced to share revenue with you.

Tactical warfare waged on consumers. If we really consider the big picture of who's pushing this - it seems like less economic warfare and more like an orchestrated effort to turn us into slaves to hypercapitalism.

The same thing with those refrigerators with the "smart screen" so you could list the groceries you needed or have a calendar or a family photo. Now they are sending ads to your refrigerator screen. WTF

I must be one of very few people that turns off everything 'remote' about any device I purchase. Once I get a stable install running.. I lock that shit down. And you know what? It's complete bullshit that I have to waste hours of my life doing this. So tired of enshitification.

3D printing often lets you print the thing to fix the thing so you don't need to buy a new one. It also gives a chance for the average person to invent and make something that others may find useful. For these reasons, it is considered a threat to civilization as we know it.

At this point ima just build vorons
