Saw a guy at a CTF competition who carried a little pillow with him everywhere he went.Thought he was taking little snoozes every now and then to keep his mind sharp. Like power naps. Nope. Dude never slept. The pillow was so he had something to scream into every once in a while without disturbing his team.
Ctf can either make u feel like super powerful by solving challenges or make u feel so dumb and humbling. Theres nothing in between. It’s either u find it or not.
I just completed a CTF competition this weekend. Tried a web challenge for hours where we had to submit a post to an admin and get the admin to like it, then we receive the flag. I didn’t read the “get the admin to like it” part, so I crafted stored XSS, CSRF, and other things and took so much information from the admin to login as the admin, but I never got the flag. Super confused, I waited till the end and read the writeup and I felt like the dumbest person in the entire competition, learning I needed 5 lines of html form script to automatically click “like” when opening the post. Love CTF events

About the hours invested... After some years of Corporate IT, I just started to learn Cybersec and doing CTFs. I started with an "easy" puzzle, just to know the game. 8 hours went in a blink. Despite studying A LOT about how to solve the puzzle I wasn't able to solve it. But, somehow, I liked it, A LOT. CTFs seems to be for people that are incredibly curious about how things work and don't have fear of pain.
After studying cybersecurity for the last three years, completing two boot camps, and tons of self learning.. i understood about.. a third of this five minute video. I'm a failure. 🤣😢

The best part is the silent mode. Only found that in a channel that focused on “no popup flash tools”. Worth finding.

i not even fucking understand a single word you said in this video but still i am motivated as hell to be a great hacker and solve CTF in future...(I dont even know how to download linux..actually i still dont have linux ;) )
