I'm not afraid of artificial intelligence. I'm more terrified of natural human stupidity.

It’s about time we treat these sociopath CEOs’ (and politicians) pathological craving of absolute power, as a dangerous mental illness.

Sorry to say it. Karen Hao makes at least one argument here that seems ridiculously off target. On the question of whether AI will replace people, she asks, “Why do we build technology, and why should we specifically build AI?” and then answers, “For me, the whole project of technology development and advancement is not to advance technology for technology’s sake, it’s to help people.” But that’s exactly where her argument falls apart. When she says “for me,” she acts as if her personal view has any bearing on how AI is actually developed. It doesn’t. It doesn’t matter what she thinks the purpose of technology should be. It doesn’t matter what I think either. What matters is what the people building AI want, and what the people controlling its direction want. And even if they publicly dress it up as “helping people,” the reality is much simpler: they are driven by self-interest. For them and their shareholders, wealth, power, and influence come first. Over time, AI will be developed in whatever direction best serves those interests.

The scary thing is that I see more and more people using A.I and getting addicted to it. My oldest son doesn't want to study for tests, he says he'll just ask ChatGPT for the answers. My mother in law is getting legal advice from A.I. I see a future where our collective brain size shrinks to the point we'll just be brainless zombies. The brain is like a muscle. Use it or lose it.

Honestly, with how the economy has been lately, I didn’t expect much this year. But somehow I’ve managed to pull in over sixty grand consistently in the last 6 months. Still surprises me when I think about it.

This is probably one of the BEST interviews you’ve done. This woman is amazing, articulate, compassionate and normal compared to many of the guests.

Here's an issue: 80% of Americans may want regulation, but our representatives have a history of NOT doing what 80% of people want and of passing 80% of what people do NOT want.

This is class war. Always has been. They are trying to completely eliminate the middle class to further the divide between the rich and poor. The future they want doesn't include poor people.

just "Google it" becomes just "AI it" becomes "we're all full of it"

When I was young, they showed a video at my high school about how computers would create wealth for everyone and 4 day work weeks! humph! still waiting... then it was the world wide web... now AI its all about power even when they try not to do it for power, in the end it is power and $$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!! it never changes, every generation has gotten weaker at fighting back. These oligarchs depend on us struggling financially so we are too busy and weak to fight back. Every empire has shown this throughout history. Thank you Karen Hao. You are very courageous! Perhaps you as a CEO could visit one of the towns, perhaps a town hall meeting, and interview the PEOPLE & FAMILIES affected by the data centers powering all your apps and advantages. Thay would be a good balance and a thoughtful follow up to this excellent conversations. I'm buying the book!
