My name is Robert Charpentier, age 76. I served for three years n the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. I was in the 1st Infantry Division and for two full years I was in South Vietnam, initially as a combat medic and for 18 months as an Official U.S. Army war correspondent out of the bases at Di-An and Lai-Khe. The loris is adorable! But slow. Patient though! The pangolin is well geared to deal with the job of devouring ants. I saw a video in which a crab was eaten by an army of ants. The crab died a very slow death. I felt badly for the crab, which is not a species that would normally gain much sympathy or empathy. The ants went inside its eyes, probably eating from inside to out. 😔
Cuc Phuong forest butterflies only fly for a few weeks a year - but that is the moment the whole ecosystem breathes together. They absorb minerals, pollinate, and then die to nourish the soil. Short but perfect.
