I just want to say, there is demand for this kind of content. Stuff like docker is something i always hear about, always think "huh what's that", and then never look it up in fear of a rabbithole. So having you guys explain it in normal people language is great!

3:15 this is part of why I spent the last 15 hours porting my media server and management stack to podman. Its like docker but there is no daemon running as root for a malicious container to abuse. And it forces better namespace and Cgroup isolation. And it works natively with stuff like systemd and SELinux so I can automatically kill containers that do something they shouldn't. The adoption of the OCI spec throughout the entire container management space has been a blessing. Most things just work nicely on any container manager.
Cries in podman EDIT: Nevermind, nice mention. As a note, podman man is pretty solid running both pods and docker containers, and podman desktop and get you started towards k8s as well.
Gotta say this series is excellent, really glad you guys have restarted it. I frequently watch 10 year old videos explaining things from this channel.
Been looking into home server stuff recently so I think this is a sign to pull the trigger and starting configuring my old computers
Next topic suggestion: VM's... if you haven't covered them already - or maybe a refresher and compare/contrast them from containers (for the laymen that is which I think is the target audience here?) edit: NVM! You touched on it. edit 2: (~) 5:20 Another thing worth mentioning is that the docker engine is not really an exe/app running on the OS. Linux natively has support for containers. Docker Engine just provides a nice, user-/almost-laymen-friendly API for using it.
