The box will contain over $250,000 of hardware, generate noise, leech off of your electricity and internet like a parasite, and give you functionally nothing in return. In some conditions, they even take power priority over electric vehicle charging. Hm... 3 TB of DDR5 memory, you say... 🤔
That's not how local grid distribution is designed. If every household starts drawing down 200 amps at the same time, we'll start melting distribution transformers
This smells like a whole future south park episode.
Ah yes, outdoors in the sun and rain, where servers love to be.
If I don't let dogs shit on my lawn why would I let data center companies do it 😂
Imma tell every crackheads i see that there’s a lot of coppers in them servers 😂
Mini Data Center.. it's a way to get Data Centers installed without having to get permits and approvals like a site built actual data center. It will also make it very difficult to actual document how much power the datacenters are using since it will be seen as residential power use.
I'll gladly put one on my lawn, they just have to account for the fact some very mysterious thief will come by in the middle of the night and suddenly the system will be gone, untraceable, never to be seen again, so they'll need to send me another one.
"Oh no, the mini server was broken into. Coincidentally, I just got a new server!"
We’ve reached the enshitification event horizon
I work for an IT support company and we're were approached by a startup called Lektra to install AI units along with solar installs.
Oh darn the sprinklers got messed up and just poured water into the intake again.
This is gonna end up like Redbox. They'll go bankrupt and leave this e-waste in your yard.
So they jack up our hardware costs by multiples, but then export the noise, heat and electrical base load on me and my neighbors? The audacity of these mofos
that's louder than a harbor freight 3500 watt generator
Tweakers are going to go CRAZY over this. Copper rush all over again lmao!
"Oh shit, mine actually just got stolen. Could you possibly send a replacement?" Infinite money glitch
Remember how they used to tell us to use less electricity because of global warming? Funny how that just completely disappeared once profit became involved.
I cant wait for the guys who steal everyone's catalytic converters to find out about these so they can stop crawling under trucks
What? No officer, I always walk around with a crowbar and 3 terabytes of ram.
