All of those "legitimate" needs for this technology can easily be met with existing solutions. If a hospital needs to keep check of a patient's life status, I'd hope they have more sophisticated equipment than just a Wi-Fi access point. The difference between existing solutions and Wi-Fi sensing is that the latter can be done more covertly - that's a bad thing in most cases IMO.

I am confident that you have the capability to disrupt or interfere with these Wi-Fi signals through various methods like signal jamming or simply overwhelming the bandwidth with noise, there are numerous techniques available to perturb the stability and connectivity of a Wi-Fi network. As someone who's on the receiving end of focused government surveillance and monitoring, I can tell you that they have an advanced form of this which can see you in great detail, accurately replicating the topology of your body in 3D. They can see you naked even if you have clothes on or are in bed under the covers. They can use AI to add color and photorealism. They can put on VR goggles and enter into your environment, look at you close up, get on top of you, etc. Since we're surrounded by WiFi I don't know if the higher number of routers from various locations increases the resolution of the system? I believe a lot of this tech is embedded in people's internet service providers modem/router gateway boxes that they're renting. There are also higher frequency 24 and 60 GHz human detecting sensors available which offer much higher resolution. These may also be embedded in these systems.
Now I'm thinking countermeasures. Can you redo your experiment with a life size foil person cut out suspended from a ceiling fans. Poelease be like - What's she doing now? "Ah - just spinning around chief. The other one is at the table, wait now there's another one spinning in the other room"
Well done Maddy, your work and time are appreciated. At this very moment they are "upgrading" all routers to be in-wall installed in our development. We denied the install but they still have us sandwiched between those who jumped at the free upgrade. We are doing our best to get the hell out of here. This is in Southwest FL.
