Vim. The thing Linux beginners fear the most. I remember turning off my VM because I couldn't exit out of Vim. Nano works for the small stuff anyway. Vim is scary. Edit : someone made a joke on Vim which i find really funny. It goes like this. "Ive been using vim for the last 10 years because I couldn't exit it"

If you wanna boost your productivity as a developer, learn how to think better, solve problems quicker and predict shortcomings of design decisions. The editor you use doesn't matter that much in the long run. If you've mastered Vim, great. Keep using it. If you just like Vim, great. I love Vim and will keep using it for smaller projects. But don't bother learning it just to boost productivity, because it won't work. You'll be a faster coder, not a better developer.

Once you get the hang of vim basics, you can even install certain browser add-ons like Saka Key that allow you to navigate and interface with web pages in a similar matter. Then combine that with a window manager like i3 or dwm and you'll never have to take your hands off your keyboard again 😄

Well, just out of curiosity i learned and used vim for an entire year. I customized it however i wanted, installed plugins etc. I became fast and efficient at it but still i switched back to vscode. Sometimes you gotta move on. It is still great when you ssh into remote computer and the terminal is the only thing you can use otherwise i prefer vscode. You can customize vscode even more than vim btw and you dont need to use mouse as well.

Do not underestimate the effort to put in to have a decent neovim environment. Bit if you once have set up all correctly and get used to the shortcuts, you will never touch any other editing programm!!!

I use neovim for over a year now and actually it looks even better than vsc and other IDEs (it took me over 3 weeks to set it up but it is 100% worth :D )
