From what I can recall reading this cooling method creates small amounts of ozone which can eventually accelerate rusting metal. I'd like to see how this affects machines after a few years of daily use

Similar tech is used for moisture collection. I'd be worried about things like moisture and potentially corona discharge, which generates ozone as a byproduct, and ozone accelerates oxidation of metal contacts and degrades some polymers over time. That's the known long-term concern with ionic cooling in enclosed electronics.

We need many more details like how much Ozone these create and what the power draw difference is between these and fans for the same airflow. After Frore's disappearance, I am not trusting anything until I see these get German certification and are on store shelves. German specifically because generally they thoroughly test products before sale and publish those test results.

Something too look into with this is that this tech for ionizing oxygen can cause Ozone. I remember similar larger sharper image fanless filters back in the day causing it. If the air outside of it is ‘sweet’ smelling that is an easy indicator of ozone being produced which would be an issue for health and air quality.

So uhm, when can i afford it?
i was under the impression that these types of things produced ozone and often static electricity too. the static is manageable, but an entire office using laptops with these would reek or ozone real fast unless they've figured out a way to prevent it.
Maybe this will finally fix the MacBook air's thermals.
