The fact I know how to play pick up sticks, marbles and hoop and stick (and can confirm they did them all wrong) says a lot. Pick-up sticks you play like Jenga, don't let the others move/ fall. Marbles games there's loads but main one is essentially Boules. Hoop and stick you roll the hoop then keep it going by hitting it with the stick! I'm only in my 20s before anyone assumes I'm 80! 🤣

Imo, the "all my siblings are dead" was part of why people were satisfied with simpler things; there was a greater appreciation for life when we saw a third our cohort pass away before we were 10.
