This little Korg Monotron Delay was sent in by a viewer via the PO Box because it apparently wasn't making any sound. After testing it, it turns out it does make sound, but only just. Which isn't ideal for something that is mainly supposed to make sound. So, in this video, I open it up, poke around inside, and see if we can figure out why it's so quiet. Hope you enjoy! Steve PS. I'm not an expert in repairs at all. I do this for fun, and it may not be the best or safest way to go about repairing broken stuff. I'm pretty good at melting plastic though. Finally a synth! what a rare treat :)
Highlight of my day, when a new upload of yours appear
"Knobs look good" is the channel's new tagline.
The last sound really caught my dog's attention
Hi Steve. Thanks for being you 👍
Cool to see a device featured that I own and use. It’s a cool little machine, but the build quality is not great. I’ve bought it 3 or 4 times now as I use it as a dub siren for my reggae sets. I have 2 broken ones in a drawer somewhere, maybe I should send these to you too Steve 😅
An oscilloscope would be handy for troubleshooting this....
Would love it if this was the first of many synths.
This is from zoe wannamaker, she is a well know synth enthusiast 😎
crazy cheap OpAmps
I wonder if there was simply a broken solder joint or something. On these devices sometimes it just helps to blast them with hot air for a minute. After that you can still replace the op amps. Also, Korg supplies schematics which can greatly help in figuring out what’s wrong.
Just to confirm, you did say “knobs look good”….
Stupid LM324's ! 😂
Glad to see Dave putting some effort in for a change, well done. 👍
Steve "Forgive me lord I have synthed"
Sounds like a sound sampler for programming video game sounds from the 70s to the 90s.🛸🛸🛸👾👾👾👾
Knobs look good
There's a non-zero chance it's THE ZW. I mean Hollywood/TV legend Kate McKinnon said, on a podcast, she listened to "Drain Cleaning Australia" every Friday.
