Love that the prof was the one who was incorrect but after reviewing he admitted it. This is actually how science works... unfortunately its not how our societies work.
I find it kind of beautiful that the soul of GPS is still celestial navigation.
I remember when I first learned how easy it was to jam GPS signals. There was a incident at Newark airport where their systems were being knocked offline. They eventually identified the culprit as a truck driver who bought an illegal GPS jammer to prevent his employer from tracking him but he worked close enough to Newark that he accidentally knocked out their systems too. A cheap GPS jammer costing less than $100 was enough to mess with an entire airport.
I live in Gdańsk, Poland, not far from Russian Kaliningrad, and we have major problems with GPS spoofing here. It's impossible to safely fly any drone using satellite navigation because they often stop responding and escape into the sea towards Kaliningrad. The only way is to fly in ATTI mode. Shared cars, scooters, and bicycles are also often visible in the sea on the map. I'd love to see another episode on GPS spoofing.
