So that's not how heat works. The light gets bounced back out, because photons can travel through transparent objects, like glass and plastic. Think of heat as a form of gas. It cannot permeate solid objects, opaque or transparent. The reason heat gets inside is because the energy within the light is released as it travels(best way I can explain it) so when the light escapes, it leaves behind the heat.

I wouldn't use anything with all that sharp metal. They make them with foldable plastic poles sewed inside and they're just as easy to install. They use the same poles as the pop-up tents.
