Just for clarity I feel the need to be a dork about it and explain; the question wasn't if he had enough money to buy the car, of course he does. The question was whether or not spending that amount on a depreciating asset was a smart decision. A car only ever goes down in value. Purchasing one is committing a larger up front cost than you could conceivably recuperate on it. He was checking if it was okay to splurge on a luxury asset. If you want to be wise with money keep in mind "if you can't buy it twice, you can't afford it."
