I lived overseas for 3 years - Just after post-graduate studies and, although offered permanent residency there, my choice was to be of use in South Africa. I was SO lucky that I did that when I was young - it really centred my life - knowing that I didn't want to live 'like that' - wasting time longing for something that I thought was better (when it really wasn't). Instead came back, focused on being part of the solutions, and making a success of it. Remember, wherever you go, there you are. You are the common denominator wherever you go. Rather use your talents for your own people. π

One: The food and quality of the ingredients we take for granted. Two: Open, friendly people you miss. You feel weird for being nice. I wonβt even talk about the weather. Youβre π― right Doc.

As a Brit, I did it the other way around (moved UK to Cape Town, been here for 10 years). This is what I've observed: South Africans move abroad (often UK) and after a few years they go back home. The Brits move to South Africa .... and they (we) don't go back. South Africa becomes "Home." This effect is not limited to the UK. This speaks volumes about what it is like to live in South Africa, and how it compares to other parts of the world.

I feel like you hit the nail on the head. We immigrated to nz for 6 years and moved back about 2 years ago and felt exactly how you feel verry lonely and I missed the afrikaans culture and the weather, just everything about South Africa πΏπ¦. Live this country and it's people with all the problems that come with it

I have spent nearly five months in America. That convinced me that home is far better. I would hate to have to bring up children in America. Our government is useless and self serving but the majority of our people are wonderful. Coming home I just wanted to hug everyone in the airport! Aitsa! Dis lekker hier.
