It’s called weight transfer. What most likely happened with the 35 mph thing is while you had your foot on the gas it had less weight on the front tires, causing “understeer” (using the term lightly here guys don’t get mad). If you put your foot all the way down you’d lose traction in the rear, causing oversteer. If you lifted, the weight would shift from the rear to the mid section, which most likely caused more grip on the front.

The man who drove the car at the time of the accident, Roger Rodas, was a professional driver.

The speed, the tires, the absolute lack of care and respect for the roadway and public safety and the fact both Paul and his friend were drinking at the party before the crash is the combined cause of his death. It's been a great while now. I know just how influential Paul was but please let the man's name rest at this point

Public roads are rough and bumpy. Race cars are made to handle SOME bumps, but not the severity of US roads. Hitting a bump at 100mph+ on a public road is an easy death sentence when you unsettle the car.
