He sees the ball. He sees the goal. And he decides heβs going to score. Then thousands of strangers seem to collectively decide: weβre going to help make this moment magical. You can hear the excitement building as he gets closer. He misses. He doesnβt give up. He goes after the ball again. And the crowd stays with him. Then he scores and the stadium erupts. β€οΈ There is something beautiful here that goes far beyond football. Children are constantly receiving information from the people around them about whether their efforts are noticed, whether itβs safe to keep trying and whether someone believes in them. And encouragement doesnβt require taking over. Nobody runs onto the pitch and kicks the ball for him. The crowd lets him do it. They simply become the voices in the background saying, in their own way: Keep going. Thatβs a beautiful distinction for parents, educators and caregivers. Supporting children doesnβt always mean removing the struggle, preventing the miss or doing something for them. Sometimes itβs allowing them to try, miss, adjust, try again and letting them know weβre still right there cheering. Because sometimes the accomplishment matters. And sometimes who was cheering while you got there becomes part of the memory, too. β€οΈβ½οΈ Video credit: unknown. "Are you not entertained?"
When the ball didn't cross the line, rules are rules - even for a toddler ππ€£π€£
He held his arms up and screamed "Are you not entertained!"
That will be a core memory for that young man......
Our favorite part isnβt even the goal. Itβs that he misses first. And what does the crowd do? They keep cheering. β€οΈ What a beautiful reminder that encouragement doesnβt have to disappear when a child doesnβt get something right the first time. Give them room to try. Give them room to miss. Give them room to figure it out. And sometimes, just keep being the voice in the background saying: βKeep going. Youβve got this.β β½οΈπ₯Ή
I love the fact that with the ball sitting on the line from his first attempt, he doesn't just go tap it in, but accepts that he missed and starts over and gets it right. That kid is going places.
Beautiful...wonderful...this is where our attention should be...making sure the next generation is okay and having fun and enjoying life.
