He sees the ball. He sees the goal. And he decides he’s going to score. Then thousands of strangers seem to collectively decide: we’re going to help make this moment magical. You can hear the excitement building as he gets closer. He misses. He doesn’t give up. He goes after the ball again. And the crowd stays with him. Then he scores and the stadium erupts. ❤️ There is something beautiful here that goes far beyond football. Children are constantly receiving information from the people around them about whether their efforts are noticed, whether it’s safe to keep trying and whether someone believes in them. And encouragement doesn’t require taking over. Nobody runs onto the pitch and kicks the ball for him. The crowd lets him do it. They simply become the voices in the background saying, in their own way: Keep going. That’s a beautiful distinction for parents, educators and caregivers. Supporting children doesn’t always mean removing the struggle, preventing the miss or doing something for them. Sometimes it’s allowing them to try, miss, adjust, try again and letting them know we’re still right there cheering. Because sometimes the accomplishment matters.
