I was ready for a break from demo, so we spent the day getting a few plants settled into the new garden, including my Tiger Eyes sumac and a climbing Sweet Caroline Upside Key Lime sweet potato vine. But things took a turn when the termite crew came back, we opened up more of the house, and discovered beautiful original tongue-and-groove flooring hiding underneath. What was supposed to be a quiet planting day turned into another round of surprises at the farmhouse. I just have to say I’m enjoying your videos so much - we get them late at night here in New Zealand and I stay up to watch them. I have been through a lot of grief lately and watching you guys and Freya just makes everything just that much better. Thank you
Even though your exhaustion is showing in your face, so is your excitement. You and Brent are very lucky to be spouses that are on the same page with this massive project. That doesn't always happen. You each have different strengths but they work together enabling you to work together on your shared dream of having some acreage and to bring an old house back to its glory. I am enjoying watching your journey. I hope that Freya's foot heals w/o any issues.
Put a rag in your exposed waste pipe! It’ll keep the noxious gas/ odors out!
You guys got so much done today, Brent even got the car to work. Is there anything that man can't do? Great progress guys, bit by bit you will get there.💪🥰
The area around the RV would be so cute planted up and also with pots for fall or winter later on😊 it would bring such joy when you sit outside of the RV 😊
I LOVE gardening but I’m really enjoying watching you work on the house. It’s fun, interesting and inspiring. Thanks guys xxx
The sumac in the planter is so pretty. It looks great in the new pot.
I had wondered if you were up for all that goes into the renovation of an old house, but I could see you were enjoying it before you even mentioned it. I’m having a blast following along with you two. It’s going to be spectacular when you have it done. Hope Freya heals up soon. ❤❤
That wood IS the sub-floor. When you build a house, once the foundation/footer and stem-wall is poured, floor joists go in, then the sub-floor goes on and it covers the whole thing. After that the stud walls are put together and they are stood up on top of that sub-floor. That is why the 'flooring' you are now revealing is UNDER the wall. All of the layers you have been tearing out are underlayment or flooring. The sub-floor today is solid sheets of course, but back in that day, they used planks, and they can be gappy and allow drafts/bugs or even small animals like mice/snakes into the house if you don't put something over it.
❤ the look of the Sumac in that pot
You’re doing a cracking job and I could watch you for an hour 😀
Wow! Your termite guys are beyond amazing!! High praise to them! I absolutely love how you potted up the Sumac and the Potato Vine… that trellis is perfect in that wicker pot! I wish I could give you both a day off, but each day, each thing you accomplish, brings you closer to your vision. It’s all looking SO good! ❤
Hi guys. I love the sumac in that pot and in that space. Poor Freya - she looked a little forlorn. We all know how a hangnail hurts. Sorry about car trouble but I love that Brent is a "car guy." Very excited about that flooring and I hope you find it in more spaces. Demolition continues but you care getting closer to your dream every day.
Please Robbie and Brent don't over do it, you need to rest and take care of yourselves, your health is your wealth, love sent ❤
Good morning sweetheart. Keep growing strong but remember you both need days off. Love you both!
Okay okay okay, I need to sit down now that I have a little time and go back and start watching the demo videos because OMG you both have done so much already friend!! I’m so impressed! We are cheering you guys on!! ❤
Love, love your videos. So sorry Freya was hurt. You’re doing an amazing job. ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
It's not hardwood flooring, it's planking it is the subfloor.
Tar paper was/is commonly used as a vapor barrier. We found it in the 1960 addition of our 1890’s house.
So glad you found an original floor you can keep! Loving the whole process guys. Hope Freya's nail heals well ❤ Pots turned out really pretty too.
