He snatched that envelope like it owed him money!😳
Bald dude was so pissed EDIT:DAYUM THATS A LOT OF LIKES TYY and to clarify i was talking about the one with the hair on the sides of his head who snatches the card like it’s someone’s weave lmao
i like the way the guy handled it, didn’t make a scene, and didn’t take any credit away from Moonlight, props to him :)
Props to that guy who sorted it out, unlike the first guy who just said "we lost btw"
I LOVE the way he SNATCHED that out of his hands cause he was taking FOREVER
Class act from the dude who snatched the envelope. He could have pouted and gotten visually pissed but instead said it would be an honor to give the award to the Moonlight crew. Good on him
I feel like he knew they would try to cover it up so he spoke up and brought clarity at every opportunity. 🎉
The comment " Im gonna be really proud to hand this to my friends at Moonlight" ❤❤❤ class act❤❤❤
Jimmy’s brain was disconnected that whole time… you can see he was on autopilot.
The first guy that corrected was a straight G. He knew the mistake was taking air out of the winners sail and did his best to make it as right as wrong can get.
He corrected that quickly and professionally to be able to give Moonlight cast their moment. 💯
The way he snatched that card like ya’ll not gone play with these people on my watch 🤣👀
This was actually handled really well by the people on stage, especially the guy who repeatedly said moonlight won
He knows how much hardwork and heart goes into making something great . He wasnt gonna take it away from someone . Top man
For reference why he said he blamed Steve Harvey was because Steve also said the wrong result in Miss Universe 2015. He said Columbia was the winner but it ended up being Philippines😂 Edit: Not editing the original post cuz I’d rather fix it here so other’s can still see what was wrong lol. It should be Colombia not Columbia, my bad🙏
To anyone who doesn't understand, at the Oscars they have 2 envelopes for each award. Before this, Emma Stone had won Best Actress in La La Land. They then somehow ended up giving Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway the second envelope for Best Actress, instead of the envelope for Best Picture. That's why Warren was confused, as it said "Emma Stone - La La Land" and not just "La La Land". The correct winners were in fact Moonlight, as shown in the actual Best Picture envelope as just "Moonlight".
For folks unaware, It wasn't the hosts fault. In the full clip, you can literally see Warren Beatty looking completely confused for a few seconds and check inside envelope again because the card said "Emma Stone - La La Land." He showed it to Faye to double check, she quickly saw the movie title, and read it out. The backstage crew mixed up the envelopes.
Wow - Being called up to the stage to receive and Oscar to then being the person who publicly says WE DID NOT WIN, MOONLIGHT WON - like WTF? He was so pissed because… yeah?! How do you fuck that up? Him wanting to honor the people who DID win is very important. The host, Jimmy, was trying to make a joke. In moments like that humility is needed and RESPECT should be shown. I remember this year because I loved La La Land so much… but idc, if Moonlight won - let then have their flowers. Such a cringe memory.
I am really glad there was at least one adult on the stage who actually took control of the situation AND did the right thing by clarifying the winner AND showing proof. Otherwise, it probably would have been brushed under the rug, and the people from Moonlight wouldn't have had their moment on stage, which was still great, even if not perfect.
The way the producers wanted to handle it is backstage. That means the winners never get recognition in the moment, which is 100% the reason they show up. So major props to the guy that called them up for their well deserved award
