Sometimes it’s the smallest decorating details that completely change how a room feels. Today I’m adding a little more character to my cottage with artwork, warm lighting and those collected touches that make a home feel truly lived in. I’m continuing my cosy cottage decorating projects at home, starting with a bit of unfinished business from my recent wallpaper disaster. After discovering old wallpaper paste underneath the paint, I need to properly fix the wall before I can get back to the much more enjoyable part: decorating. Then it’s onto one of my favourite corners of the cottage. I’m swapping things around, adding a beautiful landscape picture, playing with lamps and lighting, and finding simple ways to make the space feel more layered, characterful and collected. I’ve realised more and more that creating a cosy home isn’t always about big room makeovers or buying lots of new things. Sometimes moving what you already own, adding an old picture, changing the lighting or finding the right little detail can make all the difference. If you love cosy cottage interiors, English cottage style, vintage and antique decorating, slow living, DIY home projects and creating a warm, collected home, I hope you enjoy pottering around the cottage with me today. I like the lamp shades on the bunnies.
Ive always loved those hare lamps Catherine. I am totally with you when it comes to Laura Ashley. I was decorating my first home in the 80's and still today I am always drawn to that style . So for me it never went out of fashion. Can't wait to see what wallpaper you choose. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
As I was listening to your dilemma with your art I was going to say use Matt modpodge on your print but then you mentioned doing just that. Might look great. Let us all know how it comes out for you.
Height of painting looks great to me.
I'm so fortunate. The grandmother who taught me everything I know about gardening, preserving and cooking, took up oil painting in her 70's. My grandfather began "humoring her" because it stopped her painting the rooms in the house AGAIN. Funny thing was, she was amazing at oil painting! She got so good, people were offering her thousands for them. The reason I'm fortunate, is she said they'd all be mine when she was gone. And I have them all! Of course I'd rather have her, but she lived a long happy life to a month short of her 93rd birthday. She did landscapes, still life, and tried portrait, but didn't like that. So I have so many beautiful landscapes around my house and some still life paintings in the kitchen. I also got all her antiques including furniture, tea pots and tea cups. No one else wanted what they called "old junk". You are always such an inspiration for me when it comes to decorating. Your home is just so cozy and warm looking. Watching your videos is like a hot cup of herbal tea, a cat in your lap and a good book. Soothes the soul and mind. And often gives a few laughs. Especially the Hyacinth Bucket references.
The cream shades are fine and dissappear, which allows the hares to be the focus. Painting is a perfect height! Such a cozy home!❤
I also enjoy actual books. I am in my mid 60s, so it feels nice some younger people still get it. Flipping through pages and knowing the older ones were not AI. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful Friday/weekend.
Love ❤😊 the new painting over the fireplace, the mod podge will make a huge difference! 🤗
I like the bunny lamps and the color of the shades better than the white. That's just me, you do you girl. I know it will turn out beautiful.🥰😊
I love a real, paper book!
That lampshade on the bunny lamp is actually really cute!
Hello there. Now ..who wouldn't like an old manor house .. including beautiful gardens and greenhouses ..wish .. ☘️♥️
For some reason I love when you whisper the word Christmas. 🥰
Lamps are perfect for that fireplace...love them with the artwork...the height is just right❤
Catherine the Hare lamps look great there and I like the with their current shade on them. ❤ I’m glad you resolved the issues on the walls and can move forward. I knew you would fix it.
I used to get the Laura Ashley book out of the library on a regular basis. I could look at the pictures all day.
Mod podge for the win! Love landscapes like that. ❤
Hello Catherine. I am so glad you are now on top of your walls. So frustrating but it's behind you now. Your picture is so lovely, I know what you mean about the shine but you can fix it I know you can. I love your lamp shift and your beautiful books. You cannot beat looking through books and magazines for ideas. Thank you Catherine and your lovely Pusscats. Look forward as always to the next video.
I just love the kitties in the room. I bet they are saying to one another, "what is Mom doing now....gee whiz". LOL
I love a shaped lamp shade. 😂
