You've reached the end
"What happened to the guy who shoveled that stuff?" "He got cancer and died. What should we do?" "Hire another guy."
And my car needs adblue
The factory I worked at used this and fuller's earth with latex to create a type of rubber, non-vulcanized. This was then remelted and then cold-molded into padding/insulation under car's carpet and firewall. FYI, We all had to be trained as firemen since it was a dangerous combo, the pad would burn even wet and the "rubber" would burn like wax. They had added fire retardant to make it safer in cars, but that was one of the last steps. In production it wasn't hard to get a fire started, we fought them every single week.
They called that tar, I. Which was used to black top roads, in which was better no more pollutant then the road it's self, tar didn't crack up and the road lasted longer
The old sea wolfs called it Bunker Oil
The amount of energy present in that stuff is incredible. Those super long hydrocarbon chains...
Stuff is a nightmare to deal with just cleaned a tank of it at a refinery thats been sitting for 20 years
I don't know why but that looks like chocolate cake 🤤😋😋
My old instructor was a Navy guy said they called it Bunker C and you could walk across it at 60 deg F.
And one stroke from these engines can produce more power then a hypercar
they cut it with thinner oils and a splash of diesel or low grade kerosene
Worked at a power station that used that. They mixed a little natural gas to help it a bit. It had to be around 250 Degrees F for it to flow through the pipes. They later turned it into a coker plant.
Quite a good summary. Most people have no idea that this is what so much of the world has been running on for over a century.
I think a nuclear reactor would be more economical and less polluting.
This process demonstrates why the movie Battleship is so wrong -- starting the ship from a cold start is a multi-day process, not something you put a lighter to and get underway in an hour.
This is insanely awesome the engineering and science of this is mind boggling. Imagine a nuclear powered ship or a steam one from back in the day.
Very informative, thank you.
They’re running two stroke diesel motors who’s pistions are about as big around as a damn dump truck too 😮
Large container ships and cruise ships typically burn this stuff (HFO/bunker fuel/tar/mazut/whatever you call it in your country, its all the same stuff) on the open seas, but switch to regular marine diesel when close to shore to reduce pollution.
Mazut.
