You've reached the end
This is a fantastic example of how easy it can be to miss something. When operating a vehicle.
And those are the blind spots of a passenger car, imagine those of a truck.
I hate it when im driving and suddenly 104 children appear in my blindspots
That's why you're more likely to hit something in the parking lot than actually driving on the roads lol, cuz when the car is parked, you sometimes don't realize what sneaked under or beside your car, but when you are constantly moving on the roads, you only go forward and could look ahead of what might be popping out in front of you.
I think id be more worried abt the horde of children around my car then my blind spotsπ Edit: I was obviously joking. Some of yall dont have any humor i swear. Thanks for the likes guys!
Makes sense for dozens of kids to be sitting in front of my truck while im at a stop light
Its easy to set the mirrors incorrectly..
My diving instructor disappeared into my blind spot and reappeared very close to me without me seeing him , great lesson. Worked very well. This is a fantastic visualisation.
that's why we teach road saftey to kids
Even the A-pillar is a hazard blocking your view on the far distance, there is a terrifying synchrony that 2 drivers are driving in such a synchrony that they can't see the other behind the A pillar and believe the intersection is fully free, they believe there is no need to slow down/stop, i have seen dashcam videos like that, the person with the dashcam though the other has the slow down, as he had right of way (was on the priority street) but it came to a full collision, both had a lot of time to slow down slowly or come to a full stop without emergency brakes, but no one did, dashcam was like "Δ° have right of way" not realizing the other couldn't see him as the A-pillar was in the way and the brain filled the gap with a free street, not thinking about "maybe i should lean forward or back to see around my pillar if something is behind it.. Also way shoulder check etc. are so important that you will fail instantly in Germany during an driving exam to get your driver's license.
That's why when stationary you have to be extra careful, because luckily when you're actually moving, most vehicles are not 40cm tall that you cannot see.
This is why you move your whole body before shifting lanes
I literally always turn my head over my shoulder to check before I change lanes, it has saved my ass a lot of times
Meanwhile the parking sensor: BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!
New fear unlocked
The bottom line is that the larger the vehicle, the larger its blind spots; therefore, before crossing in front of or passing a large vehicle, make sure to honk your horn to alert the driver, and exercise caution.
So this is why theyβre scared to drive!
I'm VERY confident on the road. When parked? I'm a nervous wreck, I've seen kids get knocked down by reversing cars because the driver didn't see them. Even someone in a wheelchair got clipped once. There's just so many blindspots
Itβs a fucking car, not a watchtower. Itβs built for high-speed travel on the road, not for 100% optical scanning of the surroundings.
Everyone should see this. Regardless if they are driver or pedestrian. I can't believe how many people are simply walking behind the car as you are reversing in the parking lot. Like dude, I have to check all 4 sides at once with 10s of cars and 10s of people and children within 20 feet of me as I am trying to leave, please for the love of god don't walk 2 feet directly behind me.
