In this episode, we follow the first day of painting as our painters prime the entire exterior and begin applying the first coats of color. Seeing the warm, blush-toned ochre appear against the white plaster was one of those renovation moments that made us stop and realize just how far this old water mill has come. But there is plenty more happening behind the scenes. We head into town to deal with yet another piece of paperwork for our Portuguese habitation license, visit a local quarry to choose granite for our upcoming landscaping and paving work, and catch up with a local farmer, and friend, who is working on regenerative land and water management in the Monchique mountains. And while this episode is filled with an exciting renovation milestone, we're also sharing a little more honestly about what's been happening behind the scenes in our lives lately — including some difficult losses and the challenges of caring for our cat Baby during her treatment.
