Is this the new RAV4 must-have SUV of 2026? Get 20% off CarVertical using code Carwow: https://www.carvertical.com/carwow This is the all-new Toyota RAV4! Mat’s got his hands on this all-new, family-friendly SUV to see if it has what it takes to compete with class leaders like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Jaecoo 8. The RAV4 rolls up with a hefty price rise since the previous iteration, but is it worth it? Let’s take a closer look, starting with the design… There’s no denying that the RAV4 looks pretty smart on the outside. We’ve got our hands on the mid-level iteration, and your attention is immediately drawn to the angular headlights and bonnet with creases that mimic the Land Cruiser. If you pick the GR version, you have a sportier front bumper than what we have here, but we think it looks more than good enough without upgrading. Along the side there are plastic surrounds on the wheel arches and along the sills, coupled with a load of creases along the length of the car. Around the back there are long taillights, a new RAV4 badge, and as with the front, GR editions come with a sportier bumper. All in all, it’s a good-looking car! On the inside, there are several nods to the Land Cruiser, although you don’t have to look very far to find that many of the panels are covered in scratchy black plastic. Thankfully, though there are several saving graces, including a large infotainment screen that’s crisp and easy to use, and a whole load of storage throughout the cabin. There’s a digital dial screen which offers ok graphics, but the heads-up display is a nice touch. Ultimately it’s a fairly good cabin, but it doesn’t offer enough to notably stand out against the competition. All editions of the RAV4 are plug-in hybrids. The car we’re reviewing here comes with the entry-level powertrain - a 2.5-litre petrol engine, coupled with an electric motor, which drives the front wheels to deliver 272hp. It comes with a battery that allows for up to 75 miles driving on electric power alone, and it accelerates to 60mph in 7.5 seconds. The range-topper is a 2.5-litre PHEV that powers all four wheels, and this delivers 309hp. The RAV4 range starts from £44,195, rising all the way up to £52,045 for the GR Sport edition. But does it offer enough to lead you away from class leaders like the VW Tiguan? Let us know which you’d choose in the comments, then join Mat for this all-new in-depth review! Why are your cars so fricking expensive in the UK? The absolute range topping model in Aus is the equivalent of less than 40k pounds!
I have recently testdriven it. The hybrid system is great but the interior build quality with tlots of plastic is just horrendous.
Transmiasion is an ecvt not a cvt. Big difference. Way more reliable than a cvt
In Japan, you can buy the top-of-the-line PHEV AWD grade of this car for under £29,000.
It's 2026 and Toyota's infotainment system is still in 2006
10 year vehicle warranty and 15 year hybrid system warranty……these days that’s nearly more important than the car !!
Crazy work with that pricing!😂
Interior quality is absolutely terrible. I sat in the GR version and was shocked by how cheap the plastic felt. For a €50,000–60,000 car, it’s a complete disaster.
HOLY LAGGY INFOTAINMENT, BATMAN!
Toyota is really doubling down on its high price because of "trust" 😔
0:15 Imagine how many of these Rav4's will have those missing in 10 to 15 years
It's horrible. £50K?!!.........is it April 1st........
I drove this one and it drives really smoothly. Less noise on the inside in comparison with the old one.
Why does the UK only get the plug-in hybrid version of the new RAV4, and doesn’t get the regular self-charging hybrid version that’s offered in other markets?
Its a no from us. Toyota need to improve their pricing and their quality.
7:20 this is cute 🥰 No time to wait anymore now that Grokmaxus is a thing
There's something quite unsettling looking at the car from the outside and seeing that lower floor. It seems as if its hanging
For 50k, I'd buy a slightly used Lexus RX 450h Takumi, 2025, 9k miles and still has 9 years warranty.
Uk pricing is mad, here in the middle east it cost 29k$ to buy a standard hybrid version, life must be hard in the UK
I have never understod why Toyota and other car makers, have their center screen centered. What i mean is that the screen should face the driver more, because when its in the middle, you have to take your eyes of the road to see the screen.
