You've reached the end
Basically, what I am hearing is that all of Aang's and Korra's efforts to rebuild the Airbender population and preserve the culture have literally been for nothing.
Well, it takes place during an apocalypse where all cultures and traditions are gone and replaced with survival.
Oof, as if airbending didn't get enough nerfs from the hundred year war and attempted resurgence
Now that you mention it No tattoos β> No sign of mastery β> Original techniques are no longer passed down β> Air bending mimics other bending β> Lost philosophy, Less fluid and more grounded β> Mismatch with natural movement of air β> weaker air bending Edit: Just saw Jae's fight against the Faceless. It's actually very fluid and evasive. Good to see the core of air bending being alive.
There seems to be a Haven where the Eastern Air Temple used to be, so maybe that Haven has actual Air Nomads while Ellora just has Air "Benders"
Donβt forget the lack of spirituality
So Aangβs worst nightmare has become reality. The airbenders may live, but the culture and history of the Air Nomads are lost forever.
Just thought of this, but when the Apocalypse hit.....Zaheer probably accepted the end and drifted to the spirit realm to enjoy some tea and talk philosophy with Iroh, one Red Lotus and one White Lotus
I remember watching avatar the last airbender and seeing all the different cultures in each city
I feel like this includes all elements. Seems like they are so focused on surviving (understandably so) that all of their cultures have been erased and replaced. With only the superficial stuff staying alive.
To be fair, this is also only 1 haven out of 7, so we have no idea what the other havens look like or what parts of their old cultures they preserved or lost. There could be a "more traditional" haven out there, we just haven't seen it.
Man it sure is a shame that not even Aang is available to Pavi and Nisha, would be real nice to be able to learn from an actual Airbending Master and teach other airbenders...
Ironically, hair is often used to sense air currents in the wild. Whiskers and antenna are highly sensitive to changes in the air.
Honestly it makes sense to have the air benders form a military, if they had one they might not have been taken down by the fire nation soo easily, very few were actually able to defend themselves like Aangs master (forgot his name) though at the same time, it would make even more sense if the air soldier had to be shaved to maximise efficiency
I felt the bending looked weaker in seven heavens but more so because of the animation. It being more choppy, slow and contained, it makes all bending look stiff and weak.
I think the author went into avatar with the goal of exploring the idea of lost cultures and ancient history, in Atla we're told that benders used to be extremely powerful, and each nation had rich cultures back in the early days, and by the time we meet Aang and Kora its already mostly gone, the end goal of the series is that bending is completely lost to the world. Altho we don't know how many more avatars until then.
maybe Jae would get his bald in the future when he learned it
Don't forget they are heavily clothed meaning they dont feel the movement of air much compared to previous Airbender who wore either baggy or exposed clothes
I think we are judging a bit to early. The haven there in seems mainly earth bending derived as they are in the desert. They also had no masters to pass it on. Anngs family was the last we knew of. And even they had fractured bits of lore. The fact airbenders still exist is amazing considering in korra they where almost wiped out.
I'm guessing this is going to be a build up to the new avatars reconnecting to their past lives so that the traditions can be past on again
