Doing this with acetone is not the way to do it. Acetone can also melt plastic. The correct way is dry sanding the light from 300, 400, 500, 800. Then wet sand with 1500, 2000, 2500 grit sandpaper. Clean the lense properly with degreaser or alcohol. Wipe it clean. UV protection 2k clear coat, then polish it. All in only takes 45-60mins and will last for years. I bet this fades in a matter of months.

Note polycarbonate plastic- what headlights are made from- oxidize when exposed to the air. They all have a layer of protection when new. Refinishing them like this make them look great- but they will quickly oxidize again without a durable protective coating.

They sell headlight restoration kits on Amazon, not trying to put anyone out of business, but if you can't afford a professional job the kits start at like 15 bucks. May not last as long as a job like this, but it does a good job of clearing the lens.
