You've reached the end
Technically she is right, there are 15-30 miles of gas that your car doesn't record, but at the same time, why would you risk that?
Ive definitely hit zero in multiple vehicles not that it's ideal but definitely drove for an extra 10 to 15 km on 0
Its hard on your fuel pump, treat half tank as empty.
Yeah, Every single one of my wife's cars needed a new fuel pump, and every time she gets mad about it and I tell her the same damn thing
Depending on the type of car I can have anywhere from 5 to 15 mil at the bottom of the tank because the sensors cannot reach that far. If anything you'd probably get a mile worth of fumes
She is correct, the car has around 10-20 miles worth of gas that isnβt readable. HOWEVER running the car to that last bit of fuel is terrible for the fuel pump since the fuel pump intake wonβt be fully submerged and can take in air.
My last car was like that except when the fuel light came on you actually had 50 miles until empty
thats bad for the fuel pump
I told my husband not to worry about it that my truck will have enough in reserve so he informed me i could change my own fuel pump next time lol
Actually my dad does this too. Everyone claims he has βbad luck with cars and is forgetfulβ and itβs just classic dad.
I've never even seen the fuel light in one of my cars..
Fuel Pump: π₯΅ I'm tired, boss
Sis was just trying to save some gas and have YOU fill up for her lol
Up to 30 miles in reserve.
Most cars have a whole gallon of gas extra after your gauge says empty just for that reason
I could tell by the gauges... ITS A 4RUNNER YEAAAAAAAAAAA
Yep! Manufacturers use a buffer where 0 miles left means the tank is 85-90% empty. That remaining 10-15% is defined to give you an additional 30-50 miles (depending on what car you have). You're definitely advised to not drive in the reserves regularly as its bad on the fuel pump. But I've hit 20 mi past zero a couple of times when I was running late and didn't have time to refuel.
Actually yes, because it's not a accurate measurement. It's an estimate on your mpg how hard you drive or how economical you drive. And they won't put it as accurate as it can be there will always be some reserve so you know when to fill up and you won't be stranded
My father is always the one driving, but everytime my mom gets in the car it's in the reserve, she gets so mad. The other day my father wasn't home and she had to drive me to the hospital (I've broken my ankle), she cursed him so much! We got to the hospital but had to get a can/bottle/juggle (not sure what to call in English) to get back home.
Great way to kill a fuel pump
