I think the biggest problem with this car wass simply that it had a vw badge. If that would have a maserati badge which i think would fit pretty good tho that design than it would be a ruler back in the 2000s when that came out. Is that the right decade?

The car is the antithesis of a "Peoples Car". Maybe thats why it had an image problem.

Something I love about some hypercars is how they take the same design style from normal cars and just change proportions, not necessarily creating new sharp lines or curves that make them look less car-like. Some examples that illustrate what I mean are the Saleen S7, Audi R8, CLK GTR.

The late 90s/early 2000s concept cars were really awesome. VW, Ford, and Chrysler had superb concepts, to name a few.
