The military does this with vehicles on pallets designed to support that, plus they deploy parachutes immediately whereas in this scene the cars fall far enough to hit terminal velocity for their weight. At that point, the only thing that will slow your fall is the sudden stop at the bottom.

I said the same when i saw this. The massive shoot and them falling at nearly 200mph would ripped the car in two or the parachute would uabe been ripped off the tethers and they crash right to the ground. Splatt dead

The sudden change in speed when the parachute opened that was depicted would likely knock the person out and the parachute shown is not steerable so good luck landing on a road.
