hello sisi, on the matter of overhead cabinets, you have a very tricky situation but maybe try Tension-Pole shelving cabinet atleast you can have them on the existiong cabinet and they aren't to stand out-ish, or buying a separate tall cabinet unit that will give you more space and the oevrhead cabinet effect otherwise gluing and sticking on walls is to risky especially with glass material, my grandmother can vouch for that.
