How does Washington state thank a nonprofit for picking up over 2 million pounds of trash? By launching an investigation into their work. In 2020, during the pandemic, Andrea Suarez got frustrated seeing public spaces overrun by homeless encampments, drug use and garbage. So she created We Heart Seattle and started picking up trash. Instead of thank her, the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries decided to investigate her. #Seattle #homeless #nonprofit #washington

Without government, who would fine and investigate the people cleaning up the neighborhood?
“Hey, they’re making us look bad! Fine them.” -The Government
Its almost like they don't want the problems fixed 🤔
It’s insane how the state expects everyone to tolerate this, then punishes those who voluntarily solve the problem. Further proof the state hates competition.
Remember folks, without the government, there would be no one to stop volunteers from picking up trash!
Leave it to the government to penalize someone who is solving a problem.
It's almost like the government of Seattle is profiting from these problems existing...
You can’t hate that state’s government and bureaucracies enough.
What do you think, should citizen cleanups face state regulation?
She showed everyone how useless the government is, so they got upset and went after her.
We Heart Seattle should get awards and huge thank you’s for helping Seattle! The government leaders of Seattle should be fined for Not doing the trash pick-up!
It’s because the non profits and NGOs with friends in govt are looking like shit now, of course they are gonna put the squeeze on and stop her.
No good deed goes unpunished. 😡
Not only won't the state help, they'll prevent charity.
"Processing times are taking longer than normal" they've literally been using that message for over a decade.
She's making the city look bad. In their eyes...
Its almost like the government is corrupt or something.

Thank you We Heart Seattle! You’re doing amazing work
I have live nowhere near Seattle, but i want that group to know they are very appreciated. Taking care of your community, making it more safe for people to enjoy public spaces, and just genuinely caring is inspiring.
