I was given blood after I bleed out. It literally saved my life. I now donate as much as possible to the hospital that gave me the blood.
I was SO nervous waiting for the title reveal! Phew, not a scam!
I tried to donate blood once, but they kept pestering me with questions like "why is there so much of it", "why is it in a bucket"... so screw them
PHEW! I’m a trauma nurse and when I saw your title I said, “Wait NO, we NEED that!!!” Lol
As someone who owes her life to an anonymous blood donation in infancy: thank you, everyone who donates (or has donated).
You're right, I should be putting parts of myself into other people
I never not wanted to hear you say "nope" so hard
Whoever donated that B+ in 2006 & 2017, it was 10/10, would definitely recommend!
Don’t sleep on donating platelets; it takes extra time but if there’s a show you wanna binge on Netflix, it’s a great way to chill motionless for 2ish hours while helping people.
I donated at a blood drive in college (small town). They asked if they could call me if they needed my blood AB- Sure enough 6 months later they called me at midnight and sent an ambulance to get me. A guy was in a motorcycle accident just outside of town and needed a transfusion since he lost so much blood. I saved his life! It was an incredible experience. And I got to miss class the next day since they kept me overnight.
Been donating blood for years. In Europe we get a day off work for that :) and a 20 dollar coupon for food. ❤
I had reached my Gallon pin when I got disqualified for having had a stroke. Funny thing is, when I was donating, it always solved my headache. After I stopped I had a stroke. Coincidence? Yeah. But still a little interesting to me
Donating blood is a pillar of our society and it's too bad more people don't contribute
Chronically low blood pressure runs in my family and makes it a really bad idea for me to give blood. But chronically high blood pressure runs in my husband's family and makes it a really good idea for him to give blood. He goes out of his way to donate blood on a regular basis, so cosmically hopefully it balances out 😅
"at least i'm not a blood hoarder" i know one blood hoarder... the blood god
Man I once dated a guy who asked if we could push the time of our date back so he could donate blood. During the date he mentioned that he tried to donate regularly because he has a super special type of O- blood that is safe for infants 😭 It didn’t work out but whoever marries that man better cherish him. I would’ve married that man.
I tried to donate blood once. When they did the finger prick the number was too low and the lady said “you need this blood more than we do.”
its also generally healthy to donate blood too. you get a little red cell booste from your own bones and a better immune system as a result
I just gave a double red blood donation for the first time and was so happy I could help someone else out by sitting in a chair and do crossword puzzles.
3 years ago I almost died and had to have my entire blood volume replaced twice. My hemoglobin was 3 apparently. I recently found out my Avocado lady at the farmers market is O- and donates a lot so it’s super possible that she actually helped save me! (I thanked her a lot when I got better and got back to the farmers market) also thanks to all the people who donate! I can’t because I have some chronic illnesses but you guys are awesome!🥰
